Verily Life Sciences
I applied online to Verily, and the process took nearly 2.5 months. I received an email from the Google technical recruiter after a month and a half to schedule a phone interview to discuss the job role. A week later, they scheduled a technical phone interview and mentioned it would follow standard Google interview procedure henceforth, i.e., purely coding on a Google Doc.
In the technical phone interview (45 minutes), they asked me a very simple question using a matrix. I tried to collect all the input the interviewer expected me to get and implement. However, the interviewer didn't even seem to care to provide proper inputs, as they appeared eager to finish the interview as soon as possible. Finally, I completed coding within 25 minutes, including all boundary conditions. The interviewer mentioned that the solution was perfect and acted impressed.
Unfortunately, after a couple of days, I received a rejection. I thoroughly followed up with the recruiter to get feedback on my assessment, but they stated they could not provide feedback and that they were looking for a person with more technical knowledge.
Ultimately, it seems they conducted the interview merely for the record, as I believe they already had someone in mind with a good internal reference.
