I applied online for a position in Canada and received a reply two days later for a phone interview. The recruiter then called to notify me that I had passed the interview. However, he mentioned there was a headcount freeze in Canada and that he would be in touch after the new year.

The recruiter never got back to me, even though the position reopened (and is still accepting applications). After I contacted him several times, he stated that Canada was still not an option. When I asked why this was the case, given that the position was open online, he never replied.

Overall, this was a very bad experience.
