Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

6 rounds in total:

  • Started with an online assessment. The questions look trivial, but pay attention to time complexity. You are guaranteed not to pass test cases using brute force, so don't even try.
  • Phone screening – not very technical. More HR-ish: career aspirations, relevant academic experience. No questions about leadership positions in school were asked; I think Google doesn't care.
  • Onsite interview with four engineers – it's a four-hour interview (with a one-hour break in-between). You have to code on a whiteboard.

The interview was very professional. They explained the process clearly. They told me the results would be out in a week, and they were very on time. They gave feedback on how to improve, and I will definitely try again.

Questions

Under NDA, so I can't reveal the exact question.

However, there were questions involving array manipulation, graphs, and data structures.

The questions get harder as you work through. Interviewers will insert new requirements along the way.
