Software Engineering Interview Experience - Austin, Texas

Process

I was interviewed through an employee referral. The company sent me an email and scheduled two phone interviews. The phone interviews used Google Docs for shared coding. The interviewer would ask questions, and I would write algorithms or code in the Google Doc. The questions were not difficult, but due to accents, I didn't communicate well with one of the interviewers, an Indian woman. I guess that's why I failed the interview.

Questions

  1. A log has a start time and an end time. Sort logs by start time.

  2. Algorithm question, solved by the union-find set.
