Process

The interview process involved a phone screen followed by an onsite interview.

The phone screen began with a good discussion around the CAP theorem but quickly devolved into a tedious coding exercise. The interviewer paused when I asked about a perceived gap in the requirements for the exercise. Subsequently, I was asked to refine the requirements and implement accordingly. It appears some credit was given, as I stumbled a bit during the coding portion.

Onsite interviews included sessions on leadership, system design, and coding.

The leadership and system design sessions were very engaging and relevant to my work and experience. The coding sessions were again tedious but did not have any gaps in the requirements. I was able to complete the exercises, but apparently not well enough. Furthermore, it seems all sessions carried the same weight.
