All Google benefits are amazing! 2 stars given by me are just for this.
For new sub-organizations within Google that work on Google Cloud, the work environment is not great. Please do not get into these orgs!
The scope for promotions is very low due to high competition.
I was shocked to learn that performance reviews for every individual in this organization are relative. Completing your yearly OKRs and performing excellently on your engagement gives you a below-average rating at best. You also need to participate in extracurricular activities to "improve" your visibility, even though it's an optional OKR. In every other modern tech company, performance reviews are compared against a candidate's own previous reviews. But not here, LOL.
Most of the managers leading these organizations have polluted Google's work culture by bringing their own. This is despite undergoing training for the same.
Moral: If you are getting into Google and you do not work in the Google Cloud domain, you will be very happy. Do not work in Google Cloud Orgs. You will get frustrated in 1-2 years.
The interviewer conducted the interview in 15 minutes and was completely robotic in her questions, which made dialogue impossible. She only asked if I had skills in X tools, and when I didn't, she would take notes.
Phone screen with recruiter first. Discussed general experience and salary expectations. I was given ample time to ask any questions that I had as well. Did not make it to the next round, but they were kind and courteous through the whole process.
1. Application / Recruiter Outreach 2. Recruiter Call (Phone Screen) A 20–30 minute informal conversation. 3. Online Test 4. Phone / Video Technical Interviews (1–2 rounds) 45–60 minutes per round conducted via Google Meet or phone.
