Pros

Top-tier pay and benefits. Get to work with smart people. Great for the resume. Still in the race for being the AI leader.

Cons

Losing what used to make it special...

  • Culture is becoming more like Microsoft, Oracle, etc. by the month.
  • Internal focus has shifted away from customer & innovation focused to efficiency & cost, leading to layoffs, fear, and an "everyone for themselves" reality.
  • Total compensation is shrinking for many.
  • Questions remain on whether Google has what it takes to maintain its leadership position or if it will lose out to AI competitors.
Advice to Management

"Google breaks promises all the time" - YouTube influencer/reviewer.

This quote rings true to users, corporate customers, and employees. Management needs to heed the warning and find ways to rebuild the trust that it has and is losing.
