If you are in the right place, it all works great.
If you are on the wrong team, it is a struggle. The political setup is such that you need seniors to help you move up. You need to be good, and also be a "good boy". Depending on the group, sometimes, you can be a nobody and still expect to get rewarded, though I hope what I saw happen is an exception.
Trying to challenge and work your way up is very, very hard. You need to be very lucky.
The system is really rotten in places, but everyone believes they are great. Pretty hard to clean up. "Average" leaders, especially at the senior level, should never be accepted. Otherwise, there is no hope for improvement.
