Google had a good salary, not great, but okay for the present market. It's a company that is flush with money, so there are a lot of interesting things to do if you can get on the right teams.
A very long commute for me; they should allow people to work all over the Bay Area.
A lot of politics. Ten percent of the people are actually bright and know what they are doing; the rest just latch onto their coattails. The people prides itself on having very, very, very smart people. I didn't see that many such people while I was there.
If you are not on the right team, the work can be rather boring.
Concentrate on innovative development. Cut out the middle managers. Be more innovative, given all the resources the company has. There is far too much hype surrounding this company.
