Great pay and benefits, but culture has declined
Smart people, a good office, amazing benefits, and very competitive pay. It's really hard to find a company paying this much in the Austin area when you factor in Google's generous benefits.
The culture has progressively eroded over the last several years since layoffs. AI is being pushed down everyone's throats, even in places where it doesn't make sense, and our AI is significantly behind outside competitors. Imagine being forced to use AI everywhere, but the best model you have access to is Gemini Flash, or broken experimental models. It can be a nightmare.
The work isn't always the most exciting, and pay raises are getting worse; then again, it's hard to justify leaving given how competitive pay still is.
