Poor management outweighs the perks
- Food and gyms.
- Great infrastructure to do incredible things fast.
- Certain colleagues are incredibly smart and talented.
- Work-life balance, i.e., none.
- Terrible bosses. Some use intimidation and public humiliation to get their way; others are completely overwhelmed by the difference between being a former IC and being a manager.
- Lots of infighting and politics getting in the way of your well-being and, more importantly, in the way of projects.
Reward managers who have good basic soft skills and more importantly some empathy. Stop rewarding managers who create toxic environments.
