The pay and benefits are great. Only at Google and other big tech firms can you actually work 40 hrs a week and make six figures in an entry-level role.
Culture, morale, and motivation are at an all-time low, with no signs of improvement. The CEO doubles down on what C-suites see as necessary workforce reductions, while at the same time Google sees record profits. They announced stock dividends after a record earnings call no longer than a day after they laid off hundreds of people.
Employees are people. When employees on your team or adjacent teams get fired, seemingly at random, you can't help but wonder when you'll be next.
