Google Switzerland offers a spectacular program for interns. It has great people and a stellar atmosphere/culture, with all those promised perks that just make it better. It has great food, intern events, building themes, game rooms, and music rooms, etc.
Interns don't feel excluded from normal Google operations, which makes them feel pretty much on par with some of the full-timers. At Zürich, you still get a start-uppy, smaller company feel. However, you always know that it's still linked to the HQ in Mountain View, so it doesn't feel like you're out of the loop either.
There are major teams with very interesting projects in this office as well. Lastly, Zürich is probably the best office for any intern available, due to the high ratio of interns to full-timers and the super great diversity that the office brings in, being in the center of Europe.
There are people of 70+ nationalities in this office, and it's an eye-opener and definitely not short of amazing.
It takes time to catch up to speed as a short-term intern. Sometimes you feel a little shy to speak up, especially if it's your first internship, like it was for me.
The company itself sometimes seems a little too lax in culture, promoting some lazy days. The "Google Fifteen" is also very possible since there is free food for three meals on weekdays, though this is obviously a perk too.
Also, you get the feeling that there is not too much advancement available for those who want to make it big, so for a full-time ladder-climbing job, Google is probably not the company.
The interview process started with an OA. I received a technical interview two weeks after. I took the interview and heard back a day later that I'd be scheduled for a third round. I didn't pass the third round.
It was pretty good. I took the technical interview, which was easy to medium LeetCode questions. There were just two questions with ample time to answer them. You just need to practice your LeetCode.
Didn't make it past the OA. The OA was average to easy. I applied normally through the website without a referral and heard back a couple of months later with the OA. Overall, it's okay, but slow.
