If you want a position with a long lifespan and room to grow, or are just absolutely obsessed with their products, Google is great.
Or you can be absolutely useless and somehow stick around. There are also some great networking opportunities.
Either way, you will be molded into a great "Google Engineer".
If you want to be a "Software Engineer," you may want to try somewhere else. The skills you build, in my experience, are not as transferable as skills learned in other companies. Additionally, the company as well as employees do not shy away from implanting their culture, which has long become artificial, into your daily routine.
Please do not become an engineering manager if you cannot or will not engineer anything. Being the walkie-talkie between the SWEs and the directors does not count as being a manager; rather, it's just polluting the communication chain.
A recruiter contacted me, and then an interview was set up. I made it to the first round only. I think I contacted the recruiter too much for follow-ups; you should be more patient. It can take up to three or four months for software engineering inte
On-site interview. The first interviewer was friendly and open to having a discussion rather than making it a nerve-wracking interview. The second interviewer didn't care about my approach. He was forcing me to code on the board.
Very positive experience with plenty of heads-up for the interview. I had prepared for a few days and thought it would be easy for the first round interview.
