Smart people. The food is great. You get to work on projects of immense scale. The pay is great. There is a lot of glamour that comes with the job. People are impressed when they hear that you work for Google.
Google is in a state of denial regarding its bureaucracy. It is a huge company, and it should accept that fact to fix inefficiencies. A couple of VPs are obviously more interested in politics than in the greater good. The playful, smart company with "don't be evil" as a motto is a vision that has clearly disappeared. Google is no different than any other big company, and they are starting to realize it.
