My process for a Senior Software Engineer (iOS) position in Berlin began with an HR interview, followed by two technical screening interviews, and then a full day onsite.

The onsite interview included only one technical part, which was fine. All of the technical interviews were, in general, 'okish' and nothing extraordinary.

There were four other onsite interviews, plus lunch. These were mostly managerial, focusing on processes and product, including a "Bar Raiser" interview that wasn't particularly meaningful.

In my opinion, the last four interviews could have easily been merged into a one-hour session, as they were all quite similar. This would have saved both our times.

I was promised by the manager to receive proper feedback within a week. When I later wrote to the recruiter, they even suggested it might be earlier.

From there, a horrible experience began. The recruiter did not get back to me on three promised deadlines. On one occasion, they even wrote that I was accepted and that a call should be expected within hours or a couple of working days maximum, which did not happen for over 14 days. After exchanging more emails and receiving more promises for an earlier response, the final base offer was 10% less than my current earnings and at a lower job level, with no apparent reason or feedback provided.

I am very grateful that I already have a good job and was only looking for faster career progress and a different scope. My thoughts go out to those who are jobless or actively looking to change their job; they would definitely feel very disheartened by this experience.
