Software Development Engineer Interview Experience

Process

A recruiter reached out to me and had the standard intro call. They gathered many details about my experience (years working with tools, languages, etc.).

I moved to the next step, a video phone screen with live shared coding. The coding question was easy, and I had the right approach, but I was not selected to move forward.

The next step was an on-site with 4-5 technical interviews (seems a little much, which is why I'm marking the interview process as "Difficult").

The recruiter was super nice, sent over preparation material and articles that were really helpful. She was very easy to work with and so friendly. It was a very positive experience working with her.

The interviewer stayed mostly silent and was constantly highlighting all my code and copying & pasting it somewhere else, I presume. It made an annoying camera snap noise each time.

This was somewhat of a negative experience, but the interviewer was smart and answered my questions really well. They did provide constructive feedback after the interview, but it boiled down to "you haven't memorized this coding problem from Leetcode and can't write perfect code in 30 minutes," so there wasn't much to "construct" on.
