Pros

A lot of scheduling freedom.

Cons

General lack of interest in the company from all senior leadership. Inability to make decisions at the exec level trickles down to every facet of the company. Lack of innovation in the product teams. Tons of administrivia, red tape, and bureaucracy.

Overall, Groupon used to be a fast, nimble engineering team ready to innovate and make critical product decisions. In the past few years, it has become a stopping point for people on their way to better companies, and thus very little gets done internally. There is high churn, and the lack of direction and leadership from senior execs trickles down to every aspect of the company.

Advice to Management

Hire better leaders. Focus on supporting employees for growth and development. Foster a better culture around making decisions and taking action.
