The location, free food, cellphone perks.
I have been with several teams. Some are organized and well-managed; others are ad-hoc, always on fire, and expect you to work beyond 40 hours. They have not heard of software processes that would make developers' lives easier.
The most fun team so far was mobile, where WLB was good and teammates were fun. The mobile department and its managers rock!
Many teams are still in a startup-ish, ad-hoc mode.
There are many teams that do duplicate or similar work without communicating with each other. Some managers and directors are not very hands-on with the development and technologies, which makes it hard for the engineers. Many good engineers left.
Invest in employees' growth and development. The direction is not clear.
Coderbyte test: * Problem Solving * Coding * Data Structures * Low-Level Design * High-Level Design * Database design * Class modeling Hiring Manager discussion around behavior and technical skills. Difficulty level: Medium to hard.
The process was like any other organization. It was fine. Nothing much to explain. It started with an HR Discussion, followed by a Technical Round which was about 45 minutes. Overall, the process was satisfactory.
I had a virtual on-site interview that was long and involved multiple rounds. One round involved coding, and another round involved debugging an application. Overall, the experience was friendly, but it depends on who you interview with.
