Senior Quality Engineer Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

A third-party recruiter contacted me for an interview, and it was redirected to the company recruiter.

Had a call with the recruiter, who explained the role and company.

Was given an online coding challenge and had a phone interview with the QA engineering team.

If I cleared the phone call, they would schedule an onsite interview. I did not clear the phone interview.

Questions

The coding challenge is about searching for a word and finding out if the search word is present in all the results. (It was reddit.com, and any programming language with Selenium WebDriver can be used.)

Write test cases and a test plan for the above scenario.

Phone interview questions:

  • Basic web services questions (difference between POST, PUT, and DELETE).
  • Some behavioral questions, like: What if a manager told you there is no manual testing for some feature? Would you agree or not, and why?
  • What are the differences between mobile and web testing?

Had a CoderPad interview where a Ruby program was already written. I had to walk through it and write test cases.

Was this helpful?
