Applied online. Met with a recruiter, and then met with the hiring manager. Did a take-home test that requires 10+ hours of your own unpaid time to "collaborate" with the team on a dummy project that intends to mimic "real" work. Despite looking to "collaborate" on this test project, I got disparate feedback on the PR I put up. Once I was told they were not moving me forward, I received feedback that was not received during the "collaborate" phase. HashiCorp just wants to ask you for 10 hours of unpaid labor so they can take 20 minutes of their own time, look at what you gave them, and decide it's not good enough. To add insult to injury, they seemingly weren't even going to notify me that my candidacy would not be moving forward until I asked them. Avoid if you can. I'm glad I avoided a workplace that can't respect a potential employee with the bare minimum of communication.
