Process

It was a very pleasant and fair interview process. A manager will typically phone screen to get an idea of your background and interests in the company. This was a casual conversation with no gotcha-questions or puzzles.

There was a fairly lengthy on-site with about 8 people, including engineers, HR, managers, and a director. No question asked of me was unfair, and they all pertained very directly to the job I was applying for. Everyone was very nice, and I in no way ever felt intimidated. I was interviewed in a small room (basically, a broom closet) with no windows, which I think was meant to rattle me.

Be prepared to know C++ backwards and forwards, including the latest language specification. If you can't confidently call yourself a master in this area, you are wasting your time and theirs. You will need to have a general understanding of computer architecture, bottleneck analysis of systems, and the general workflow (git, tool chains, debuggers). A master of parallel programming was also essential. Make sure you understand basic synchronization constructs and how to debug parallel programs.
