They shortlisted my profile from Naukri and then they called me for an interview, which was scheduled for the next day at HSBC, Salt Lake Sector 2, Kolkata.
The selection procedure was a long and tiring process with several rounds.
There were about 24-25 people there.
1st round: Objective type with around 30 questions testing technical knowledge.
2nd round: Psychometric test with 22 questions. Each question was about how you would respond to a given specific situation and had to be completed in 30 minutes.
3rd round: Grammar and vocabulary plus test, which was online and also had a time stipulation.
4th round: Telephonic round where they basically tested your English speaking ability and accent. You would be given a topic to speak on and a paragraph to read.
Every round was an eliminator. By the end of the 4th round, there were only 3 people left.
Now, one had to face the interview to get selected. They usually take a 1:2 ratio.
I faced the interview, which was taken by the fund manager and the vice president.
The interview was a kind of "Roadies" interview type. Questions were asked, and every question was cross-questioned with a point derived from the answer.
About the company? They would test your basic accounting knowledge with journals and balance sheet questions.
About hedge funds? Derivatives, calls, puts, mutual funds, swaps, futures, forwards?
Relocation-related questions, previous job profile?
