Senior Developer Equity Derivatives Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

I had 3 rounds of interviews. I was told that I did well, this included by all of the team members. This came directly from the client and through the recruiting agency.

I was told after the last interview that the group "wanted to see other candidates." This was surprising, as the hiring manager told me that he would want me to stay at least 3 years. He also asked if I had my paperwork ready for an offer, as this was a consulting opportunity.

A few days later, I got an email from a different agency for this same job saying that "the group does not want to see people with 17-25 years of experience." I confirmed with the agency that this was indeed the same group and that this is what the agency was told by HSBC.

The hiring manager did not pay attention to my resume and online profile. He didn't see that I was senior in the experience department. As soon as he realized it, he pulled the EEOC violation. You cannot cap experience as per the labor laws in this country.
