HSBC has a great Speak Up culture and is very employee-centric in terms of the support you need to excel at your work. They support and encourage diversity, providing opportunities to those with different backgrounds. Generally, there's a great work-life balance. It's good for those who are starting a career in finance.
Unfortunately, HSBC does not compete well in terms of salary compared to other financial institutions. The level of compensation also makes great talent leave for other companies, wasting their investment in the growth of their people. Although work-life balance is generally valued at HSBC, some departments feel overworked and underpaid.
Increase people's salaries. It is so sad to see people leave a workplace they love because they receive offers usually twice (or even more) of what they earn.
Smooth and clear. Two stages: * Values quiz online * A video call that lasted for an hour. Questions about my experience and motivation for the role. Feedback came fast and they were to the point.
Simple interviews with basic to advanced Java concepts, including Spring Boot and backend development. Topics covered: hashing, component scan, repository, and more about backend development with respect to Java 8, entities, and objects/annotations.
The final-stage assessment consisted of two 40-minute interviews with assessors. The interviewers were engaging and did not expect technical knowledge. I was able to have some great conversations about the role and culture.
