People I worked with at HSBC were all pleasant. Work-life balance was okay as well.
However, year over year there were no raises or any career growth opportunities. Management prefers to hire from outside over promoting internally. If you end up staying for more than a couple of years, you will fall behind the market on compensation.
Consider changing your performance reward scheme. This has been the biggest demotivating factor of my tenure with HSBC. Even with strong performance ratings year over year, my compensation shrank. This is no way to treat loyal employees.
