Pros: - Unlimited PTO - Supportive of different people's work-life balance. - Frequent company and team AMAs, especially since COVID. - Lots of support, merit, and acknowledgement if you're an engineer, PM, or designer within the product org. Other roles receive none. - People do care about movements such as BLM, mental health, and COVID.

Cons: Prides themselves on the HubSpot culture code (HEART), but HubSpot really isn't "Humble". The product team has a very marketing-esque (with cheering) monthly meeting. There's a lot of hype to promote HubSpot. Humble? Not the slightest. No visibility into salary bands and career growth. (Hint: not Transparent; re: T in the culture code). Other tech companies do this better. Promotions and seniority are inconsistent throughout the organization. The product org keeps changing, and they promote unqualified people to management roles but are slow to promote others. WAY TOO much change. Benefits do not match up to other tech companies (pre-COVID). Product teams often do not communicate, or do so after the fact. The performance review cycle is inconsistent for roles. It's not "peer" feedback when that feedback is optional.

Pros: - Fast growth, like a roller-coaster ride, has its challenges, but overall it's a lot of fun and presents tons of opportunities for growth. - Flexible. People can change roles and jobs, participate in experiments, and move across departments/groups. If you're very curious about trying or doing something, you can do it. - Smart folks. Everyone around you is either really smart or really, really smart. - Open-minded. Most folks are open to talking about all sorts of ideas, approaches, and projects. Data-driven, for the most part.

Cons: - Growing fast means processes break, don't scale, or don't exist at all for some things. Usually, I think this is okay, but in a couple of areas, like annual reviews, it's not ideal. - Some favoritism displayed by management towards certain folks, whether earned or not, is seen by others and resented by some. - If you need a very precisely specified job, with instructions down to the finest detail, this is not a good place for you.

Pros: Five years ago, when I set out to find a new job, I really searched for companies that valued their employees. In some of my previous jobs, that was certainly not the case. At the time, Dharmesh was just releasing the Culture Code, and I was immediately sold. The autonomy, trust, and positive attitude exhibited at HubSpot are far beyond any other company I've worked for in my 20-year career. The management team takes the feedback from quarterly (anonymous) employee surveys very seriously and has proven themselves over the years to fix patterns of issues. As a manager, I've learned a lot on how to help people achieve their goals and take on more responsibility. As an engineer, I've been able to carve out time to pursue difficult technical challenges and get recognized for them. The technical infrastructure is amazing, allowing engineers to iterate quickly and ship stuff. Hands down, this is the best job I've ever had, and I'm terribly concerned that if I ever have to leave, I'll be very disappointed that my next company doesn't live up to my experience at HubSpot.

Cons: The company has grown a lot. While that allows us to get more done, it also drastically increases the coordination and communication needed to launch a project. Sometimes it's not clear who owns what. It's a bit easier for people who have been here a long time, but I think it's really hard on new folks. With great power comes great responsibility. If you're not comfortable shipping things and then being on call in case it blows up in the middle of the night, then HubSpot may not be for you. Luckily, we have a lot of resiliency in our architecture, so services are much more reliable than in other companies I've worked at.
