The process took about 3 weeks and was of average experience. What's more unreasonable is the 3-hour coding challenge, which doesn't essentially test a candidate's skills. It's a real-world problem, but there are better questions that are effective and take less time to complete.
First round: Meet and greet with the recruiter. Second round: Coding challenge. Third round: Two interviews – one with the hiring manager and one with a Senior SDE. Both interviewers were charming, and I enjoyed talking to them. They were both experts in interviewing and gave me plenty of time to think and explain my answers. The technical programming with the SDE covered HTML, CSS, and JS. The hiring manager used STAR-based questions.
Fourth round: Two interviews, both with SDEs. The first interview was poorly conducted. The interviewer didn't listen to any of my approaches to solving problems and constantly interrupted me. I suggest this interviewing strategy should not continue and interviewers should be given sufficient training on how to handle candidates. The next interview was average, with technical questions on JS.
Overall, I was not selected to move forward. It might not have mattered, as I accepted another offer, but my experience here shows that one interviewer is enough to demonstrate how bad the company culture can be, even though they claim it's awesome. In my case, I wouldn't want to be part of a team where someone is not open to listening to others' ideas or constantly interrupts.
Good luck, all!
