Pros
  • Good tech stack, very easy to work with.
  • Enjoyable work, although this varies by team.
  • Good teammates.
  • Product meetups are fun.
Cons

New HR policies have been completely tone-deaf.

EU employees get a fraction of stocks compared to US employees now, and refreshers are only for high performers.

PTO benefits like a week of rest and unlimited holidays are gone. Yet leadership wants you to use 5 of your own holidays for a specific week in July to suit the US. They tried to sell this as a benefit gain, not a cut. We’re not children.

Performance is very closely monitored, for example, PR counts.

The CTO has explicitly said he doesn’t want HS to be known for its benefits, and he’s certainly got his way.

The sabbatical benefit is gone for new employees.

Culture is now a lure.

AI is being shoehorned where it shouldn’t be.

Advice to Management
  • Reverse benefit cuts, particularly in the EU where they are not that competitive.
  • If you do cut benefits, do not try to sell it as a good thing. This just annoys people.
  • HR CPO needs to go. HS culture has eroded ever since KB left and Brian stepped back.
