An outside recruiter reached out to me. The process involved a phone screen first, then a first round of take-home tests, followed by a second round of take-home tests, and then another phone screen. The whole process, not including the initial phone conversation with the sourcer, took almost two months.
By the time they scheduled the onsite interview, I already had multiple offers and was turned off by the rather strange experience. The takeaway, for me at least, is that they may already have a certain profile in mind. When someone who's not in that mold came along and beat them at their own games, they just acted like a kid on his first day in daycare.
So, whatever.
