I had to take a Karat interview. The interview itself is not a correct way to evaluate a candidate. You can't get any signal for the company you are interviewing for. The interview process is designed around speed, with less communication and less thinking.
After the interview, Karat's recommendation was to move forward with the onsite. The recruiter reached out, saying we would be moving forward to onsite. After a week, I was told an Instacart interviewer, who didn't interview me, apparently reviewed my video and decided my system design was not up to par. The system design part was hardly tested for two minutes in the Karat interview.
I think this is the worst way of treating a prospective employee; it's almost like an insult. If the company thinks I am not worth 45 minutes of their engineering team's time, I would rather not work for it.
