Process

A pretty typical interview process for this position.

I applied externally for the position worldwide and received an email from a hiring manager a couple of weeks later.

He set up a brief 30-minute phone screen to learn about me and my school projects. After that, I was flown out for an on-site interview.

There were four 1-hour interviews in total:

  • Two technical interviews
  • One behavioral interview
  • One interview that was a mix of both

Questions covered for the behavioral interview were pretty typical (e.g., "Tell me about a time you worked with a difficult team member").

The technical interviews focused mainly on the following areas:

  • Database concepts
  • String algorithms (using a language of my choice)
  • Discussions from some of my coursework (I mentioned OS, Data Structures, and Software Engineering Practices, and we talked about topics from all of them).
