It was a referral interview from my friend who was doing an internship there. He/She got a job there (now GT) despite having a very unrelated educational background.
Days went by, and I got the interview. It all started with preliminary calls, and the next few days I was invited to the interview by 'this interviewee'.
During the interview day, the process was smooth. Typical questions were asked (basic introduction stuff, FYP, etc.), though there were some technical questions I couldn't answer. I was certainly satisfied with the questions given.
THEN CAME THE BAD EXPERIENCE: When I asked how 'my friend' got a job there if his/her qualifications were very unrelated to the job description. Even 'the interviewee's' colleague mentioned they were wondering why 'my friend' was chosen, as he/she had a different educational background.
It turns out, this interviewee went out for a 'grand' internship farewell alone with my friend, without their team department members. Some sort of special relationship, I don't know, but I could tell 'this interviewee' liked him/her despite his/her educational background.
Conclusion: I honestly think this is not about attitude issues anymore. 'This interviewee' will pick you if he/she likes you, despite your experience or portfolio in coding or an electronics education background.
Honestly, this was the most disappointing job interview I've ever experienced with my dream company.
