Hardware Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I received a referral from a friend.

An engineer emailed me directly to ask for a time slot. I had a phone interview a couple of days later. Afterward, they emailed me the bad news.

Questions

The first topic was a Finite State Machine (FSM) for a vending machine. The second was about CPU pipelines. The third covered how capacitance and resistance would affect a long wire. Then we discussed the job and the company. The interviewer was nice and tried to help me with a problem I had difficulty with. However, I still missed one possible situation for the FSM and missed one step for the CPU pipeline. After about half a month, I was told there would be no further rounds, which was sad.
