Pros
  1. There are some awesome teams; pick carefully though.
  2. Women's networking groups.
  3. Amazing mentoring ("Find an Expert").
  4. Some amazing teammates and the ability to form human connections with strangers.
  5. Definite pockets without gender issues, but pick a manager carefully.
  6. Suggest women work with witi.com for more info on women working at Intel and to hopefully find the right spot.
Cons
  1. Some areas have a toxic work environment for women, but certainly not all.

  2. Intel has only recently begun to fix pay for women (doubling my friend's base salary), but has done nothing to fix the fact that low pay is compounded by stock options and bonuses based on base pay. Any percentage raise is based on low pay. This causes a accumulation of lost money much higher than a simple base salary comparison.

  3. Don't go to HR if you have a problem with a toxic work environment. There is a way to search for and interview for other internal jobs without your boss knowing about it. Switch jobs ASAP if there is a problem, because it is most probably not about you, and you cannot fix a bad situation.

  4. Strongly suggest you maximize base pay (due to cumulative impact) during job negotiations. New California laws also require companies to be more transparent about pay, so that inequities are more visible. Advocate for yourself without expecting fairness.

  5. Like many companies, "corporate values" are simply words without substance.
