Pros

Good work-life balance. Open culture. Stable job.

Cons

Uncompetitive salary. I was an engineering manager and had no control over the salary of my staff. It was all decided by the organization.

Promotion is too infrequent. Only 8% of the organization is allocated for promotion every year. That is once in 12 years on average.

The new hires get closer to market salary, but existing employees only get a nominal increment and cannot even catch up to the inflation rate, let alone catch up to the market salary. Many talented engineers had the same complaints and left.

Advice to Management

Money isn't everything, but it is very important. If a company does not want to lose talent, it needs to reward reasonably.
