Pros
  • Opportunities to learn through access to trainings and coursework.
  • The people are generally welcoming and kind.
  • Good benefits and flexibility in working from home.
Cons

Difficult to understand the structure of the organization with many teams and some levels of secrecy.

A careerist attitude towards ownership of projects stifles innovation and teamwork. Managers should be doing a more dedicated job of addressing this.

Do not foster a sense of ownership in work except for long-term employees.

Managerial focus on output as the end goal does not consider how the enrichment of employees could lead to this.

Focus teams, on-call duties, and end-of-quarter projects all eat into work-life balance.

Advice to Management

Foster greater collaboration between teams, making employee development and clear priority in workflow.

Make more defined sense of career progression.

Create systems by which people may protect their ideas and maintain some level of participation even if another group may have a skillset better suited for it.

More accountability from managers on how they are improving, or guiding improvement of workflow rather than just demanding it.
