The review process is horrible. It used to be a popularity contest among first-level managers, staged behind closed doors. Now, it's even less transparent. Once you turn 50, unless you are a well-connected manager, you become a target. You will be urged to accept a voluntary separation package. Alternatively, you can stay and defend your job every year or two.
Watch the depth of your experience pool. Stop asking for more H1B visas and concentrate on motivating and retaining the local talent you have.
