Pros

Intel is a very large corporation, and even if your division is eliminated, it would probably be possible to find another position within the company if desired.

It is possible to work from home when necessary.

Cons

Innovation is suppressed and resisted; the "copy exactly" philosophy applies to almost all engineering work. The organizations are suspicious of one another and do not collaborate.

Intel management cultivates a blame-oriented culture. Political battles can destroy the career of even a low-level engineer.

Hostility toward female engineers is accepted, especially those that introduce new ideas and change. Lower-level managers do not act when a female is targeted by sexist treatment.

Vulgar, demeaning comments and vicious, unfair criticism during presentations in large meetings are tolerated, and even participated in by managers. If a complaint is lodged, HR completely supports management without doing a proper investigation.

Co-workers are allowed to review each other, and a good, productive engineer can have their future compromised by jealous co-workers.

Advice to Management

Investigate the circumstances of the departure of talented engineers.

Remove low-level managers who are known for driving away good people.
