Pros

This position is stable. You can sit there for a long time as long as you do the bare minimum.

Cons

The performance is measured not based on what you did, but on what you might have done that could possibly have an impact on the future of the company. You may be a good engineer, but as long as you don't participate in any meetings about the future, which is totally imaginative, you cannot get a promotion.

The company is in deep crisis and desperately tries to find a way to succeed, but all those ways in progress at the moment I left Intel were dead ends.
