Pros

Great Management:

  • Recognize & appreciate your contribution & effort.
  • No blame-game, and will give constructive feedback when a mistake is made.
  • Display a great deal of professionalism & critical thinking during problem-solving.

Helpful Colleagues:

  • The BBs are extremely kind and willing to share their knowledge and experience if you ask.
  • Role models of hard work and dedication.

Others:

  • Work-life balance is mostly good, unless there is an urgent project/issue.

*Experience may be different depending on team/department.

Cons
  • Career progression is not clear and can be laid out more clearly.
  • The skill-challenge-support approach is seemingly one-size-fit-all and can be improved upon.
  • Working in a lab environment: no pantry is provided. (Engineers need their coffee!)
Advice to Management
  1. Lay out and share the career progression and path as a GB, or the expectation/requirement for conversion to BB. Without a defined career progression plan, the turnover rate of GBs will likely remain high, as any other permanent job offer will appear superior.

  2. Skill-challenge-support matching can be improved. There is no one-size-fits-all; challenges should follow an employee's skill level, and support should follow the challenge level.
