Unprofessional recruiters and managers scheduled an interview and canceled it right before the day, stating the entire team took off for a week. I am still wondering how that is possible and how important the team is in the company.
We need to follow up with recruiters on what happened, as no one officially called and explained. After the interview, everything was positive except my salary ask. They wanted to reduce my range, so they put me on hold. In between messages and calls, they stated they were looking for other candidates. Then, a call came stating 15% is what they were looking for as a hike and set up a call with a senior manager. He was very unprofessional on the call and said I would be notified in three days. There was no reply even after a week, and I had to call to check what happened. The reply I got was that most of the team is on leave. (The team is always on leave!) A week after that, when I called back, they said they were trying the next candidate and would call after two months.
Luckily, I got a better offer from a very good company with a salary range that was even higher than what they initially discussed. Even if they had offered me the job, I decided not to go because of the type of work and the perceived importance of the team within the company. I am very lucky that I did not get a job at this company. I experienced the mentality of the people and managers. Perhaps this team, in particular, is like that.
