Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Mountain View, California

March 1, 2024
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process consisted of three stages, according to the recruiter.

Based on that call:

  • The first stage involved reviewing the job description and requirements with the recruiter.
  • The next step was answering LeetCode-style questions with a senior developer. I had requested an SDEII role, but for some reason, they interviewed me for the senior position.
  • Finally, the last stage was a take-home assignment followed by a panel review and discussion on system design and tradeoffs.

I received a poor rating because I specifically requested an SDEII role, but they interviewed me for a much higher position that I was not aware I needed to prepare for.
