Software Engineer Interview Experience

Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process included a recruiter phone screen, an online assessment, a video interview by Karat, a phone interview by a manager, a technical phone interview, and an onsite interview.

My experience with Intuit was entirely negative. I underwent five rounds of phone/video/online interviews before reaching the onsite stage. I've never experienced so many preliminary rounds before an onsite interview. More surprisingly, I was asked to prepare a presentation—something I'd never encountered for an SDE interview—and complete a project according to their requirements. These were such odd requests that I should have given up much earlier. However, I wasted considerable time on all these phone interviews, preparing the presentation, and completing the coding project.

On the day of the onsite interview, after I presented my project, I was told to leave because I was too junior and they were looking for a senior-level candidate. I had actually applied for an entry-level SDE position, but the recruiter sent me a senior SDE job description. Despite this, they still put me through so many rounds, asked me to prepare a presentation and a project. I took a day off, drove an hour for the onsite interview, presented for an hour, and was then asked to leave!

They clearly don't care about wasting others' time; they are very disrespectful.

I should have noticed that almost all senior SDE interview experiences on Glassdoor resulted in no offer. I should have given up when I felt the interview process was strange. I truly regret the time I wasted on Intuit.
