Pros
  • Lots of very smart people who are very passionate about their work, their team, and the state of the company.
  • Higher-level managers actually listen and are open to input regarding internal process changes.
  • Lots of social events to partake in (festivals, community outreach, yoga, etc.).
  • Free coffee and snacks, a game room, and a gym to unwind.
Cons
  • The large number of smart people inevitably means egos.
  • Office closings and layoffs meant an impact on worker morale.
Advice to Management

Keep listening to employee input. Lower-level managers need a strong mix of technical and management skills to help guide newer employees and organize and direct teams.
