Process

There was an initial HR call asking about your tech stack, why you applied, and to learn a little bit more about Karat.

There was a 1-hour Karat interview screening, split into three parts:

  1. A quick introduction of yourself and the interviewer.
  2. You chose a couple of topics and were quizzed on them (e.g., CPU/memory, REST APIs, protocols).
  3. Three LeetCode questions that built off one another, progressing from easy to medium to hard. (For Karat itself, you need to pass at least two out of three questions).

After that, there was a 1-hour conversational interview with an engineer on the team, who asked some basic questions from a script.

Finally, the onsite, which is a few hours long, where you talk to one manager/engineer at a time.

Overall, my experience was negative for a few reasons:

  • During the onsite, the same behavioral questions were asked in every interview, with slight variations.
  • The standard Karat interview questions are all leaked online on blogs/websites like 1point3acres. This interview felt like a waste of time since anyone can study those and pass it.
  • I'm not even sure why some of the interviewers were bringing up politics. The company is very woke, and they did not try to hide this during the interview.
