Junior Developer Position In Berlin Interview Experience - Berlin, Germany

Process

This was probably one of the worst experiences I've had.

I applied online and, after a few days, received an invitation for a logic test. After the logic test, the process went silent with no response. After waiting a few weeks, I sent an email to follow up. The HR representative told me, "Oh, yup, you passed the logic test with a perfect score, but I didn't do anything from my side, my bad..." I was then invited to a video interview with HR.

Most of the interview went quite okay, but one thing made me really uncomfortable: the HR representative kept telling me I was at a very junior level. I know I'm junior level and I mentioned a pretty low salary expectation when asked. I told HR that as long as I could learn, contribute, and improve myself at Klarna, I didn't really need much salary to start, as long as it was good enough for me to apply for a Blue Card. Still, I felt like I was asking for toooooo much money from them, and HR tried hard to remind me that I wasn't experienced enough to be paid the salary I required. It was not pleasant.

Anyway, after the video interview, I was sent a coding test. There were three questions with no time limit, which shouldn't be a problem for a programmer with more than one year of experience. I, however, ran into a problem where one test from one of the questions did not pass and might not execute according to the rules listed in the question. I identified it as a bug or whatever problem it was, and I received an email telling me I wasn't experienced enough to solve all the tests 100%, so they couldn't proceed. I then gave this bug feedback to HR, but I guess he doesn't know coding at all and only checked the results, not replying to my question anymore.

So, basically, I found the whole application process at Klarna useless, not because I didn't get an offer, but because nothing was helpful or meaningful for me. The tests were awfully crappy and easy, the interview was unpleasant, and I assume you shouldn't trust the "competitive salary" from Klarna's job descriptions, as they might do their best to cut it anyway. (Well, maybe I'm just not good enough to deserve it, but if you think you're a super coder and have time to go through this application process, then you should just apply for other nice companies like Google, Amazon, or HERE. I don't see any reason you should waste your time on Klarna.)
