I applied online. The process took 2 weeks.
After an initial call with the recruiter, I was scheduled for a call with the engineering manager. About 5 minutes into that call, he asked me to walk through a project I hadn't been told to prepare. I offered to do live coding instead, but he said no and ended the call early, saying we'd reschedule. I followed up with the recruiter, who confirmed the manager had made a mistake on his end, and a new session was set up for the following week.
When that second call happened, the manager didn't acknowledge the mix-up or the time it had cost me and he just started right in. At one point he mentioned I'd had "a lot of interviews" already, as if that were a strike against me rather than just how the process had gone. Throughout the call he was dismissive of the time constraints ("I'll interrupt you, we don't have much time") without adjusting his own approach to fit the time he'd allotted. When I offered to give a different example to better answer a question, I was cut off with the same "we don't have time" line.
As a senior engineer who has been on both sides of the interview table, I didn't find this a fair or professional evaluation of my skills. The format was rigid, the tone was condescending at times, and there was no accountability for the scheduling error on their side. I won't be moving forward if given the option.
