LinkedIn contacted me first.
After two telephone interviews (initial screening and technical), I was invited to an on-site interview at their Mountain View headquarters.
LinkedIn arranged travel for me. They worked within my constraints and did not pressure me to make a particular date.
The on-site interview took most of the day. I met with representatives from HR, management, and several SREs (one or two at a time) to discuss different aspects of the position. They asked relevant questions and asked me to work through relevant tasks. I also had lunch with an SRE at the LinkedIn cafeteria.
Everyone I worked with during the interview process was friendly and helpful. I did have difficulty communicating with one SRE during the interview due to his very heavy accent.
