Pros

Even as a contractor, you are treated as an employee (minus benefits and PTO).

I received a new laptop, a large screen, and a ton of support to get started. My team is all contractors, so we are all in the same boat.

Projects are clear and well explained; there is really a ton of support. Management is... well, very supportive.

Cons

Contracting means a lot of overturning in employees. Projects are left undone or unfinished for someone else to pick up and potentially screw it up or take a different route.

No paid days off, which sucks when the company has a week-long shutdown. This is great for full-time employees, but contractors are unpaid. There is not always work for us to do without supervision or support.

Advice to Management

Make Engineering Linguists permanent, or at least a few of them!
